Back to the future. A community icon celebrates 15 years!
In October 1996, a Sydney businessman, Simon Davies, had an idea. Davies, the then President of the SGLBA thought Sydney’s gay community needed a networking event. An event where gay businessmen, their friends & guests could gather to exchange ideas, meet new people and grow existing business networks. The result was Fruits in Suits® - Sydney’s premier gay networking and social event. Fruits (as it’s fondly known), has been held at many a venue over the last 15 years; from The W Hotel, to The Mars Lounge, Slide & The Beresford. It is the original of the now many ‘Fruits in Suits’ events around the world. There’s one in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
In October 2011, SGBLA Inc. invites you to join the celebrations as we head back to one of the great venues of the past! As you’ll see below, the night is packed with prizes (be sure to bring your Business card for a chance to win the Out Travel holiday!), community support and the opportunity to ‘pose for a pash’ with the KISS installation. The KISS installation will be dropping by Fruits in Suits, so pucker up with a loved one or grab someone new and add your lips to a peaceful protest stating that a kiss does not discriminate. Digital images will be sent to participating 'pash-partners' online and you may even see yourself in a new a catalogue in 2012 celebrating the diversity found within Sydney!! SGLBA will also be donating $2000 to IDAHO in support of their ongoing work in the community.

Beautifully Baroque!
Regular supporter The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, led by charismatic Artistic Director Paul Dyer, has been described as ‘one of the world’s finest period bands’. In their next concert ‘Glorious Baroque’ they invite ‘a veritable devil of a fiddler’, Italian period violinist Riccardo Minasi, to bring to life a glittering showcase of 16th and 17th century works. This glorious concert experience features a haunting cello concerto, a thrilling Vivaldi flute concerto La Notte (The Night) and the Australian premiere of Zelenka’s Venus aria from Il Diamante (The Diamond).
