The SGLBA has had a long tradition of contributing to the community by hosting political dinners. This dinner was held at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Double Bay on Wednesday 7 November and was attended by three of Sydney’s most prominent politicians: Malcolm Turnbull (Liberal), Tanya Plibersek (Labor), and Kerry Nettle (Greens).
The dinner was well represented by all the major community groups, Gay and Lesbian media, the mainstream media, and our major sponsor ‘3 Mobile’.
The SGLBA was fortunate enough at this dinner to play host to a major policy announcement made by the Government, that being the removal of discrimination on same-sex superannuation entitlements.
In addition, the SGLBA out of its ‘Good Works Fund’ presented a donation of $500 to the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby to acknowledge their fine work representing the community in fighting the many battles of discrimination that still affect us all.
The SGLBA Board sincerely thanks the three candidates and all attendees for making it a highly entertaining and informative evening.
