The SGLBA has awarded their first $1500 student scholarship for 2008 to UWS student, Matthew McQueen who is studying a Bachelor of Business (Property). Board members and representatives from UWS formed a panel to review applicants and were particularly impressed by his academic success and commitment to the Gay and Lesbian community. "Matthew will indeed be a great role model for other gay and lesbian students who are progressing through university and looking to establish a business career" said Scholarships Director, Greg Reynolds.
There is another scholarship available. To qualify, applicants must be full-time students having completed a minimum of one year's study in a business related course any university in NSW and identify as gay or lesbian. Applications should include details of their academic record, some information about their career aspirations and any involvement with the gay and lesbian community.
Applications close on 30 June 2008 and should be submitted to The Scholarships Director, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Community, PO Box 394, Darlinghurst, NSW 1300.
