Fair Day marks the kick-off to the Mardi Gras season each year and is attended by over 80,000 visitors. Not many people know that this landmark event began as a Business Fair held by the SGLBA when it was known as the Gay Business Association (GBA).
This year, 30 years on from the first GBA Fair Day, the SGLBA has created an opportunity for members to join a Business Avenue in a high traffic area where the SGLBA will be hosting member businesses.
President Paul Lee-Maynard said it was a great way to celebrate the GBA Fair Day legacy. “Fair Day is the perfect time and place to gain exposure for your business and reach out to potential customers or clients,” he said.
The Avenue will be recognisable with a designated entry and exit and member stalls blocked together in rows. The SGLBA will provide members with recognition in the avenue through SGLBA bunting and banners. Members of the public will be able to visit Business Avenue and know that these are businesses that support and do business with the LGBTQI and wider community year round.
The SGLBA is inviting members to participate in the Business Avenue and is offering a subsidy for superior commercial stall in high-traffic area, within the business avenue. Once members have booked their Fair Day Stall in the Business Avenue through Mardi Gras, they will be entitled to a $150 rebate from the SGLBA. There is a limited ‘first time’ offer for SGLBA members, so be quick to reserve your place in the Business Avenue.
